The Penrod II is a very finely constructed sailing vessel. Very well custom-designed with very good use of available internal and external spaces. This is demonstrated in the fit and finish of this particular vessel. The Penrod II is very well appointed and this vessel should have excellent cruising abilities and should also be a good investment.
Roger Simpson catamarans are solidly designed for blue-water sailing as well as coastal cruising or island hopping with a fully open galley, spacious saloon, and multiple cabins. The perfect size for a couple or family.
Designed as an owner's version, the skipper's starboard hull has a queen-size berth with ample storage, head, and shower. The port guest hull has queen size berth also with two cabins, with guest head and shower.

Hull Construction:- Epoxy, GRP, over strip timber, hull surface finish is two pot polyurethane.
Standing rigging:- 1 x 19 S/S, Seagull striker 1 x 19 Dyform S/S Halyards 12nn Kevlar, the jib sheets are 16mm polyester Commodore Double Braid, the remaining sail sheets are 12mm Commodore Double Braid.
Winches:- The mainsail halyard winch is power/manual, The two main sheet winches are power / manual, with two manual winches as back up, the mainsail sheet winches are manual.
The Jib roller furling is also power/manual, there are two addition manual winches on the mast.
Sails:- Mainsail about six years old, with through length battens, Jib also about six years old, MPS, ( Multi-Purpose Sail ) is nearly two years old, and is set on a code "zero "manual furling.
The main forward anchor winch is Hydraulic, the aft, anchor winch is also hydraulic, and the dinghy winch is also hydraulic.
The main forward anchor is a 100 KG plow, with 145 mts ( 400 feet) of 13 mm galvanized chain, the secondary forward anchor is a 40 KG. S/S Fishermans style with 10mm galvanized chain, the aft anchor is a S/S Danforth, with 3mts of 13mm galvanized chain and about 160mts (500 feet) of 20mm Nylon rope, mooring lines and fenders are included with the boat.
Dinghy:- 2.3 mt. Tinny with a 15 horsepower, four-stroke with electric start outboard, 20lt fuel tank
Safety Equipment:- Six-man Life raft in current survey, with an EPIRB. Packed in it, a separate EPIRB inside the boat, Flares, Life Jackets, Complying Nav lights, at deck level, and at the masthead, HF Radio, VHF radio, Radar, Radar reflector, Dan Buoy, with twin lifebuoys, self-igniting lights and drogues. AIS, transponder, Stern mounted swim ladders.
Complying guard rails ( 900 mm ) high, with two intermediate wire strands.
Navigation : - Full-size chart table, with chart storage above, also above are, FURUNO depth sounder and fish finder, FURUNO 32 n/m radar, with daylight screen, Garmin G. S. P. Chart plotter, Sea 330 HF SSB radiotelephone, Raymarine repeater instruments, Wind, Depth, the control centre of the TMQ, auto pilot.
Steering:- Twin S/S wheels with engine controls in sheltered seats behind clear sliding windscreens, on STWB. Are the Raymarine sailing instruments, Wind, Depth, and boat speed, remote controls for the Jib roller furling, Anchor winch, remote Spotlight, and remote controls for TMQ, autopilot, a Garmin GPS Plotter.

Main engines:- Two( one in each hull ) 4.5 lt. Four-cylinder, naturally aspirated FORD diesels, about 2566hrs port, 3367hrs stwb, running time, with hydraulic transmissions.
Gen-Set :- In port hull, three cylinder KOHLER diesel, single phase 240 V. 9 KVA, with 8000 hours running time.
Tank capacity : - Diesel 2500 Lts in two tanks, one in each hull.
Water 2000 Lts in two tanks, one in each hull, plus 1200 Lts in two tanks one in each hull.
Gas :- Two 9 kg bottles for the cooker, one 9 kg bottle for the BBQ. With gas detector and auto shut off.
Out board fuel:- 110 Lt. S/S tank.
Deck wash ( salt water ) fore and aft pressure system.
Accommodation: - Each hull has 1 single and 1 double berth fully fitted cabins with separate bathrooms, including an electric toilet.
The port hull includes the laundry.
The bridge deck, Saloon with dining banquette, tastefully furnished, Skippers office space.
The galley with fitted cookers ( gas & microwave ) 240v. Frig', freezer and appliances.
Mains pressure hot and cold water service at the sink, with Aircon serving the galley and saloon.
Electricity professionally installed 240vts to service all spacers with shore power or own generation all lights are 24v. LED's.
Batteries :- House are long life Gell, sealed type, 12v. Connected to produce 24v. There being 16 batteries in all.
The engines are 12v. Two in the stwb hull with battery charger, a further three in the port hull, with separate battery charger, all heavy duty long life, and sealed type.
Plumbing :- Salt water - Toilets may be discharged to the sea or storied and discharged at shore Waste facility.
Fresh water:- Showers, basins, washing machine and sink are all served with mains pressure hot and cold water discharged to the sea.
Fresh water can be replenished by on board De-Sal plant and harvested rain water ( from the cabin roof) or direct by hose from the marina, to have marina pressure water.

Comfort:- Cabins and Saloon are carpeted, Galley and bathrooms appropriately tiled.
External gas-fired BBQ at the stern.
Saloon and cockpit wired for sound and TV fittings.
Cabins have electric fans.
Engine rooms:- Insulated bulkheads, offer reduced noise in cabins, are well lit and spacious.
Headroom:- 1.85nn min in all workspaces are well lit for carrying out maintenance work.
Forepeak:- Stwb side has a small workshop with room for spares, plus De-Sal plant.
Portside is a rope locker, with hooker compressor.
Sun covers one port and one starboard to cover the galley and chart area, those are attached to the boom, there is a large cover that goes over the saloon, it sets on one of the whisker poles out over the fore deck.
